La Plagne might be a resort best-known for its skiing and winter sports, but its restaurants aren’t half-bad either. If you’re a foodie after fine French dining, you will be well-catered to here – in fact, we would go so far as to say that the quality of the cuisine is one of the biggest draws.

L’Alpenrose

Just 100 metres from the ski lifts is L’Alpenrose, an excellently-located eatery that specialises in great local Savoyard and French cuisine. The selections of grilled meats might be the signature dishes, but the veggies are delicious as well. The extensive wine list, with its impressive selection of the best vintages, will delight vino connoisseurs and amateurs alike. If you head out to the terrace, you will be welcomed by marvellous views of the Vanoise National Park.

La Carlina

This gourmet bistro sits inside the Hotel Carlina. The terrace is the main attraction, with ample seating allowing customers to bask in the bright sunshine whilst gorging on a sumptuous combination of traditional Savoyard dishes and original contemporary flavours.

It is also blessed with ski-in ski-out access, making it one of the easiest restaurants to get to in La Plagne. Chalet-style ambience is achieved inside with wooden panelling and a warm fire. The competitive pricing and exciting rotation of daily specials also draw diners in.

Les Cocottes

Sitting right in the middle of the resort is Les Cocottes, a versatile space that offers great food, coffee and a cool venue to meet friends and family. The inside is tranquil and inviting, with a log-burning fire to warm guests no matter how snowy and cold it is outside. It also caters to families by offering a children’s menus and lighter bites, like the expertly-devised toasties and platters.

La Luge Restaurant & Pizzeria

This fusion of French cuisine and pizza is a joy to behold. Located in the arresting village of Montalbert, La Luge prides itself on the fantastic pizzas and extravagant salads that it produces. It also serves a fine selection of local delicacies and stunning homemade desserts. The views from the terrace are as good as the food, with lush valleys below and Mont Blanc up above. This spot is truly something to behold.

Top Tip: Book ahead – the quality of the menu and the service make it a very popular place to eat out.

Accommodation: Try a La Plagne Chalet

Like many winter destinations, the range and choice of accommodation is large in La Plagne. Chalets are usually the best way to go, because they are often centrally-located and suitable for groups of all sizes. Some of the surrounding villages specialise in catered rentals, while others feature mostly self-catered choices. The latter are usually near many restaurants (and the slopes!).

When it comes to a winter break in La Plagne, you may find that the fine French dining is the most delicious part of your holiday.
