For many of us, skiing is about more than just the sport or the physical exercise. It’s about being out in the fresh air in a beautiful snow-capped mountain landscape and feeling the wellbeing which comes from being outside of your usual daily routine.

If that’s how you feel then you may want to check out one of the most calming events in Val d'Isère this season: the Val d’Isère Yoga and Wellness Festival. Three days of yoga set against a stunning mountain backdrop also include meditation, walking in consciousness, massage, wellness treatments and a range of other wellbeing activities.

Many of the events and classes will be held in both French and English and will include a range of different yoga styles including Tantra, Vinyasa, Hatha, Acro and Yin.

Wellbeing on the Slopes

Of all the fun, lively events in Val d'Isère each year, this is the one that tries to slow things down a little, aiming to help participants take time to concentrate on the self and improve their connection to it.

Whether you choose to take part in the more than 40 yoga classes that will be going on over the three day event, or you prefer to practice mindfulness out on a nature walk through the truly stunning local landscape, or even while you ski – there will be plenty here to help you re-find your centre.

Events on Val d'Isères Yoga and Wellness Festival

A range of activities are being planned for the festival, with plenty of them scheduled to take place outside to take advantage of the awe-inspiring mountain landscape.

Visitors can expect live music and a number of sessions incorporating dance. There will also be plenty of chances to relax and unwind with fellow festival-goers at the event’s Organic Bistro.

Highlights will include:
• 40 yoga lessons
• Outdoor sessions
• Pilates
• A wellbeing conference
• Guided meditations
• Om Market (selling a selection of wellbeing products)

There will also be a series of workshops for women throughout the festival on subjects including hormonal balance, yoga for the perineum, sacred women’s circles, and alternative contraception.

Dietary wellbeing will be discussed by Camille Pelloux in a series of talks entitled Soul Food Diet, Stress and your Intestines, and Detox of Mono Diet. There will also be a talk on the power of music in chanting.

The Details

The 5th Yoga and Wellness Festival will run from 28 – 30 April 2017. Tickets for the three day event, which is centred around the Congress Centre in Val d’Isère, will cost €185 and are available online via the Congress Centre’s website.

How to Get to Val d’Isère

Getting to Val d’Isère is easy as it is served by no fewer than four airports: Geneva, Chambéry, Lyon and Grenoble. Book a Shuttle Direct airport transfer to pick you up from any of these airports and a driver will be waiting for you when you land to take you directly to your accommodation in the resort.

There are many events in Val d'Isère this season, but none that will make you feel as centred, relaxed and peaceful as the Val d’Isère Yoga and Wellness Festival.
