It is important for drama teachers to inspire their class to get the best out of them, so it is always worth looking out for a drama-themed educational trip. Fortunately, there are many awe-inspiring destinations to choose from. These trips can bring the subject into a real-world context and reveal how the pros bring their performance and productions to life each night. These experiences can be immensely valuable and influential for budding performers, whilst also providing plenty of entertainment for the class.

Here are a few of the more significant places for a class excursion in the realm of the performing arts.

London

The Capital is the centre for performing arts in the UK and is home to the iconic West End. Drama students will get a real thrill from being in this exciting part of London and will enjoy attending a real-life performance of a stage show – this can be hugely inspirational for those with aspirations to continue performing after finishing school.

No drama-focused educational trip to London is complete without a visit to Shake-speare’s Globe Theatre, and this is quite the sight to behold. Students could also benefit from participating in a dance or theatre workshop at Pineapple Studios in Covent Garden. These can teach new skills in a new environment, as well as encouraging students to step out of their comfort zone and exposing them to where many of the West End’s greatest performers studied.

Disneyland® Paris

The magical world of Disney is one with a very unique and distinctive place for produc-tion and performance, making it an intriguing venue to visit. Disneyland® Paris is a su-perb destination for an educational trip, as pupils can enjoy exploring the five lands in the theme park and take in the rides, street parades, performances and joyous atmosphere. Students can also get access to the adjoining Walt Disney Studios® Park, where they can go behind the scenes of their favourite Disney movies.

The Walt Disney Studios® Park puts on interactive tours that showcase the impressive work that goes into making these movies, including the art of animation. During this tour, students can even have a go at creating their own cartoon characters. They can also tour the Production Courtyard, where they will see high-tech Hollywood sets and production facilities for a unique insight into the movie-making business.

Stratford-Upon-Avon

Stratford-Upon-Avon is somewhat of a pilgrimage for drama enthusiasts, as it’s the birthplace of William Shakespeare and the town in which he wrote many of his most famous plays. An educational trip here allows students to walk in the footsteps of this iconic playwright and learn about his life. The class can visit the sixteenth-century home where he was born, work on a Tudor farm and explore the house where he lived and eventually passed away. Another must-visit is the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, where you can arrange a fascinating behind-the-scenes tour. This provides a valuable insight into the process and production of a play and will also reveal the fascinating history of the RSC.

Any of these excursions can do wonders for budding performers and those with a pas-sion for the performing arts. Arranging an educational trip for a class can be daunting and time-consuming, which is why it is always worth using the services of a professional school travel agency – this will ensure a fun, valuable and memorable experience for all.
