Head to the bottom of Mallorca’s Randa Hills, and you’ll discover a wealth of history, heritage and culture. Llucmajor, a stunningly picturesque little town, is filled with stories and legends and a holiday here is the ideal spot to begin to explore the tale of Mallorca’s past.

Llucmajor is an immensely popular site for visitors from all over the world, with the area having played host to the Phoenicians, Greeks and Carthaginians, and plenty in between, too.

Sant Bonaventura

A trip to this Mallorca resort simply wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Sant Bonaventura. The seventeenth-century church and convent is a living representation of the Franciscans’ impact during their time on the island.

Inside, you’ll find beautifully carved and colourful tiles, while the exterior showcases some breath-taking architecture with noticeable Baroque influence.

The buildings of Sant Bonaventura were constructed in Renaissance style, with some extraordinary murals for you to take in as you explore inside the building. This wonderful religious site is one of the finest spots to spend a few hours during your time in Llucmajor.

King Jaume III: A Statue

This is quite a sight. Showing both King Jaume III and the future King, Jaume IV, the iconic bronze feature will take your breath away. The future King holds the flag of the Kingdom of Mallorca and also the body of his father in what is an evocative image.

This statue will tell the story of the Battle of Llucmajor, which took place in 1349. This saw Aragon’s Pedro IV defeat the King, which would have a profound impact on the history of this Mallorca resort for years to come.

Llucmajor Town Hall

Another great point of interest in this Mallorca resort is the Town Hall, which boasts attractive architecture originating back in 1884. Be sure to spot the carved portal, as well as the cladding, which is made of marble. The exterior is lovingly decorated with the city’s shield.

Sant Miquel

Isidro González Velázquez’s remarkable architectural work can be observed at the Parish Church of Sant Miquel. The church, built originally in the Gothic style has impressive Baroque additions and a remarkable clock tower that is often the highlight of the trip for many of its visitors.
King Jaume III’s original resting site was here at Sant Miquel, and remained there until he was moved over to Palma Cathedral.

A Place to Stay

This Mallorca resort has plenty to offer in terms of delightfully charming places to stay. A great place to start is the Hilton Sa Torre, which is a wonderful establishment traditionally constructed as though it were a fourteenth-century Mallorcan home. This hotel offers stunning 5-star luxury accommodation, and a beautiful location too.

Llucmajor is a wonderful place to visit, with so much to offer in terms of the island’s history, culture and religion. From charming churches to stunning statues and wonderful places to stay, can you really afford to miss out on a visit?
